Fuel Stations in Sidoarjo Inspected After Vehicles Stall Following Pertalite Refills

Sidoarjo, East Java - October 28, 2025 - Authorities in Sidoarjo Regency conducted inspections at several fuel stations after multiple motorists reported their vehicles stalling shortly after refueling with Pertalite, raising public concern over fuel quality in the area.

The inspections were carried out on Tuesday by officers from the Sidoarjo Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the local Department of Industry and Trade. The move followed a wave of complaints from motorcycle riders who experienced engine problems, including loss of power and sudden stalling, not long after filling their tanks at nearby fuel stations.

According to police officials, the checks focused on fuel quality, storage systems, and pump accuracy to ensure compliance with national standards. Officers also collected fuel samples for testing to determine whether contamination or improper handling had occurred. The inspections were conducted at several stations reported by residents to be linked to the complaints.

Several motorists shared their experiences, saying their motorcycles began sputtering or stopped running entirely after refueling. Some riders were forced to push their vehicles to repair shops, where mechanics suspected fuel-related issues affecting combustion. The complaints quickly spread through social media and local community groups, prompting authorities to respond.

Head of the Special Crimes Unit at Sidoarjo Police, Iptu Deckha Rian Embat, said the inspections were part of a precautionary measure to protect consumers and maintain public trust. He added that officers had not yet found clear evidence of fuel adulteration, but further laboratory analysis would be conducted to confirm the findings, as reported by Suryakabar.

Meanwhile, local fuel station operators stated they were cooperating fully with authorities and welcomed the inspections. Some operators also expressed readiness to assist customers who experienced vehicle damage, provided they could show proof of purchase and repair documentation. Similar information was reported by Viva Jatim, citing statements from station managers and local officials.

The Department of Industry and Trade emphasized that monitoring would continue to ensure fuel distribution meets required standards. Motorists were advised to immediately report any suspected fuel-related problems to authorities so they could be handled promptly.

Officials urged the public to remain calm while the investigation continues, stressing that inspections are aimed at ensuring consumer safety and preventing potential violations within the fuel distribution system.
